2003-04-01Net Changes
Hey everyone. Changes in effect April 01. No April fools here. We have decided to shorten the net to just a half an hour in duration. This way it is easier for folks who don't have an hour to spend on the air. Seems reasonable to me. Th enet will start as usual at 00:00UTC but now will end at 00:30. If you wish, you may ragchew with anyone after the net if you feel a half-hour is not enough.

2003-01-25NAYN Weekly News
Hello everybody,

We've started sending out a NAYN newsletter every week announcing any planned changes to the youth net, as well as filling everybody in on how the previous week's net went. That way, if you miss a net, you can find out what happened, as well as stay up to date with net news.

Friday's net went well! We had nine check-ins from all across the US. Among the states represented were Alabama, California, Colorado, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Thanks to all for checking in! The net continued until 7:55 P.M., and several western stations QSY'ed to 40M afterwards. The major topic of discussion was how to get more people to check in to the net. One station said he'd been working on contacting the ARRL and getting them to publish info about the net. Several other ideas were also suggested. I'm going to put another post on QRZ in the next few days to update everybody on how things are going.

2003-01-0440meter Youth Net
Hello All!
This is Jeffrey, KG4QWR. I have decided to start a 40M net this Saturday evening at 8:00pm EST. Some of you may not be able to check in, but I'm sending this to those that have checked in to the net.

I realize I have a modest antenna (B&W Portable Window Antenna), but it gets out well enough for the net. Any relays will be welcome. The frequency WILL REMAIN WITHIN 2 KHZ of 7.295; hopefully we will not have to have a wild goose chase around the band. Tune around 7.295 to find us, I should be on 7.295.

If you have beams, I am located in Central Virginia. I hope to hear all of you this evening on the net, or those that can at least hear me. Hopefully, this will work better than our previous 40 Meter Net.

God Bless & 73,
Jeffrey Seay, KG4QWR

North American
Youth Net

The North American Youth Net was started in November 2002 to encourage young hams to get on the air and to get together with fellow young hams.

The net runs every Friday at 00:00UTC to 01:00 UTC on the 20meter band. The frequency generally is on 14.329 MHz, occasionally if the net runs into QRM, the freq. will be posted here. There is also a 40meter youth net, which runs only if there are enough willing young hams on the net. The freq. for the 40m net is announced during the 20meter net.
